The book shop
April 1992: René Franken opens Demian in the Antwerp 'Wolstraat'. April 2010: Demian moves to its current location at the 'Conscienceplein'.
Demian is specialized in modern literature, literary archivalia, art, and philosophy. Demian is known as a meeting point for writers and artists, and for its literary exhibitions.
Demian is also a small-scaled publishing house with its own website.
January 2016: Demian is reinforced by two employees: Vedran Kopljar (in the shop on Mondays and Tuesdays), and Joost Decorte (in the shop from Wednesdays through Fridays).
René Franken is in the shop on Saturdays, and every first Sunday of the month. Outside of the Demian shop, he's working behind the scenes, focusing on building collections, unlocking the stock, and realising new catalogues and Demian publications.
The Demian men welcome you!
